1

Identify the failed retainer

Locate the cracked, brittle, or missing vent retainer flange in the cockpit. Note whether the retainer has fully separated from the vent trim ring or is still partially in place.

2

Remove the old retainer

Remove the 3 Phillips head screws holding the retainer clip in place around the vent opening. Once the screws are out, the retainer flange will lift free. Carefully remove any remaining cracked plastic fragments and clear the vent opening of debris.

3

Clean the vent opening

Wipe the vent opening and surrounding trim ring with a clean cloth. Ensure the seating surface is free of dust, oil, and plastic fragments so the new retainer seats flush.

4

Secure the new retainer

Align the replacement retainer with the vent opening and reinstall the 3 Phillips head screws. Snug them down evenly — do not overtighten. Verify the low-profile lip sits flush with the vent trim ring on all sides.
