1

Inspect the old latch

Open the vent window fully and examine the latch mechanism. Note whether the latch body is cracked at the pivot point, the retaining tab is broken, or the latch won't hold position — this helps confirm you have the right replacement.

2

Remove the broken latch

Use a plastic trim tool or a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in tape to release the retaining clips. The latch snaps off the pivot post — work around the clips evenly rather than prying from one side.

3

Align and press the new latch

Seat the new latch over the pivot post, aligning the clip openings with the retaining tabs on the window frame. Press firmly with your thumb until you hear/feel the clips click into place.

4

Verify latch operation

Open and close the vent window several times to confirm the latch holds securely in the closed position and releases smoothly. The latch will break in slightly over the first few cycles.
